nesmith camaro 630 411x300 Two Chevy dealers offering special 700 hp Camaro models just like Yenko and Berger
There was a time when dealers utilized General Motors’ Central Office Production Order to the fullest, giving us some truly terrific muscle car options. By judiciously picking hi-po OEM performance parts to augment some already formidable performers, COPO Chevrolet Camaros from the late ’60s put a few dealers on the national map, and today, we know about Berger, Nickey and, of course, Yenko. Well… the Camaro is certainly back, but where are the modern COPO versions? If you live near Albany, New York or Claxton and Jessup, Georgia then the cars are right down the street at your local dealerships.

DeNooyer Chevrolet of Albany has dipped into GM’s Performance Parts catalog and come out with an LSX454 engine. After stuffing it into a Camaro, they know have a 620-horsepower coupe prowling their lot. In Georgia, NeSmith Chevrolet also took a look into the catalog and put in an order for supercharged LS9 normally found in a Corvette ZR1. Their NeSmith Storm Camaro puts out nearly 700 horses. In other words, the COPO is back! Check out our gallery below and then hop the jump to see video clips of both cars.

2011 Chevy Aveo
The 2011 Chevy Aveo. There are plenty of affordable small cars that excel where the Aveo fails.
What’s wrong with the Aveo? If you fall into that category, the 2011 Chevrolet Aveo might fit your lifestyle. Available only as a hatchback, it starts at nearly $3,200 more than the Aveo5, the Aveo hatchback option. The base Fit also includes standard safety features like side-curtain airbags and anti-lock brakes – which are unavailable in the base Aveo.

Base Versa sedans are available for $9,990, or nearly $1,200 less than a base Chevy Aveo. Many used cars also make better choices than the Aveo.

Details: 2011 Chevrolet Aveo
If you can’t drive stick, want air-conditioning or need power windows and door locks, then the Aveo LS isn’t the right car for you. The Chevy Aveo is also available as a sedan and hatchback called the Aveo5.

For 2011, the Chevy Aveo gets a standard cabin air filter and a free six months of On Star’s Directions and Connections plan. On paper, the 2011 Chevrolet Aveo looks as if it could be a front runner in the subcompact economy car segment. Cheap price? High fuel economy? Respectable handling.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2011 Chevrolet Aveo is available as either a sedan or a four-door hatchback, dubbed the Aveo5. The Aveo5 hatchback in 2LT form also comes with a rear spoiler.

Powertrain and Performance
The official EPA mileage estimates for the Chevy Aveo are respectable for this class, with a manual-equipped example achieving 27 mpg city/35 mpg highway and 30 mpg combined. An Aveo with the automatic transmission drops to 25/34/28 mpg.

Safety
Front-seat side airbags are standard on all trim levels, but side curtain airbags (a feature that is increasingly common on subcompacts) arent available. Stability control isnt offered. In government crash tests, the 2011 Chevy Aveo sedan earned a top five-star rating for the driver and four stars for the passenger in frontal impacts. IIHS side-impact testing resulted in the second-lowest "Marginal" score.

Both the sedan and Aveo5 hatchback feature a 60/40 split-folding rear seat that allows for the transport of longer items. Contrary to our customary recommendation to choose a manual transmission in this segment, the Aveo automatic seems to be the better choice.

The 2011 Chevrolet Aveo is a smart choice for young and young-at-heart, style-conscious drivers – and it complements a range of exciting new Chevrolet designs. 2011 Chevrolet Aveo goes on sale summer 2011 and will be offered on hatchback and sedan style. 2011 Chevrolet Aveo is powered by 1.2 liter ECOTEC gasoline engine, delivers 86 hp, and 115 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The 2011 Chevrolet Aveo is features a four-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) that uses data input from wheel-speed sensors to reduce stopping distances. An integrated electronic brake distribution (EBD) system proportions brake pressure.

Front disc and rear drum brakes are standard, along with low-compressibility brake-pads. The centerline of the 2011 Chevy Aveo incorporates the sensing and diagnostic module. The backbone of 2011 Chevrolet Aveo safety design is its exceptionally strong body structure provided by a body-frame-integral (BFI) structure.
